Review by Adam Ray

This episode has the longest “Previously, on…” for a TV show that I’ve ever seen. However, it’s possibly the strongest chapter in the series thus far. Episode four treated us to the Titans finally coming together, whereas this instalment presents them as a dysfunctional family. We get to see the methods of the mysterious Doctor Adamson, and find out that more is going on than we at first thought. All of that, a change in dynamics, and a shocking guest appearance makes this episode all the more exciting.
The transparency of the team is what will bring them together. Each member gives us a display of powers to show just who can do what. This works very well to raise our excitement. To see all the Titans together, surprised to see a green tiger or fire beings, makes things feel grounded. Each member has been well imagined, and the divide between the older two and the younger pair gives a split that keeps the group realistic.
Yes they’re all in one place, but there’s no real trust yet, which is believable. The team has to really draw information out of each other. Even with the intent of bringing everyone together, it’s hard for individuals like these to automatically trust each other, though this is a great start.

Conclusion

The first appearance of a certain character in live action, happens right at the end of this episode. I won’t say who, but it’ll excite every reader to know that this is an important figure in the Bat-Family, finally committed to screen. Their presence will shake Dick’s resolve, and what it means for the people following Rachel. This will put the newly formed team through their paces.
