Not only will this be a celebration of the title that gives the publisher its name, but one that showcases the character that made it famous, and his incredible supporting cast.

Here’s the full DC Press release:

Celebrating 1000 issues since the first appearance of Batman, Detective Comics #1027 is the blockbuster that’s as big as some graphic novels! Containing a gallery of tribute art from some of comics’ finest talents, stories from some of the biggest names in the business (including a hint at what’s to come for the future of both Gotham City and the DC Universe), this is a must-have book for fans of Batman, his allies and his enemies!

In the tradition of other landmark titles such as Action Comics #1000 and Detective Comics #1000, Detective #1027 will also feature a highly collectible series of variant covers, and DC is giving you a first look  five of the ten “Friends and Foes” available for retailers to order. Numbering ten in total, these covers will showcase the Dark Knights allies and enemies that have been at the heart of Batman’s quest to protect the citizens of Gotham.

Enjoy this look at the main cover by Andy Kubert, in addition to these “Friends” variant covers by Lee Bermejo, J. Scott Campbell, Olivier Coipel, Stanley “Artgerm” Lau and Frank Quitely! Next week, we’ll preview another five variant covers, featuring the evildoers of Gotham City.

Detective Comics #1027 arrives at open and operating comic book stores and participating digital retailers on Tuesday, September 15, and will sell for $9.99.

The 80th Anniversary issues we’ve had this year for Robin, Catwoman, and The Joker have all been spectacular. as were both versions of Detective Comics #1000, so I cannot wait to grab this issue too!
