DO IT, BUY THE BOOK- AUGUST WRAP UP

By Fay Clark.

Alrighty, back on track for posting Wrap ups. This time around we have what I read for DO IT, BUY THE BOOK CHALLENGES in August! There was so great stuff going on and I can't wait to chat about it.

Challenge 1 - READ A BOOK WITH LGBTQIA+ REPRESENTATION. - Lumberjanes Vol 9. By Shannon Watters. This is such a good running series. Even if you've completely forgotten what has happened in the previous Vol, it isn't that hard to catch up! I love all the friendships and other ships haha. I would have loved to go to that camp, so much supernatural fun!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5.

Challenge 2 - READ A BOOK WITH AN ANIMAL ON THE COVER. - The Scapegracers by Hannah Abigail Clarke. I was super excited for this book, about lesbian and queer witches. Much magic and mystery. Although it was entertaining, there was something missing from it for me. I'm not entirely sure what, but I don't think I go along with how it was written. I like the plot and the characters though.⭐⭐⭐/5.

Challenge 3 - READ A BOOK THAT IS SET IN THE SUMMER OR HAS SUMMER VIBES -  She's too Pretty to Burn by Wendy Heard. Another book I was totally hyped about. More lesbian mysteries, I apparently had a theme going without realising. This was a dark YA with some difficult themes talked about. I enjoyed the relationships between characters, but there were some communication issues. Although dark in nature, it was very summery, lots of swimming in pools and getting sunburn.⭐⭐⭐⭐/5.

Challenge 4 - READ A BOOK THAT HAS LESS THAN 200 PAGES. - Geek Girl's Don't Cry by Andrea Towers. This is an interesting look into the Mental health of the Woman we see in our favourite fictional stories. Taking from their plot lines and characteristics, professionals are able to assess the mental health issues our heroines could be having. Being able to see that, is a real boost for young girls. Even heros suffer sometimes, it's okay to ask for help. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5.

Challenge 5 - READ OUR PICK OF THE MONTH FROM TONY! - The Secret Hour by Scott Westerfeld. This is such a cool idea. I can totally see why Tony wants more people to pick this up. Could you imagine having a whole extra hour just for you. What if you also had awesome powers in this extra hour? Sounds great right?! Imagine the things you could get done! I enjoyed the relationships between the characters and I'm super glad there wasn't a love triangle (kind of sick of those!) ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5.

So, that's it. That's what I read to complete the August DO IT, BUY THE BOOK CHALLENGES. I enjoy the random theme that popped up without me noticing! There were some awesome reads durring August, I can only hope September is as great!
